PASTORS

Rev. William Godfrey
Senior Pastor

Rev. Godfrey was ordained to the gospel ministry in 2011. He served as the primary preaching pastor of Grace URC in Torrance, California for just over eight years before the Lord called him to Christ URC. He was installed as Pastor on May 12, 2019.

Rev. Godfrey grew up in San Diego County, where he has lived for most of his life. He holds an M.Div. from Westminster Seminary California where he also serves as a visiting lecturer in Practical Theology.

He loves being an uncle to his nieces and nephews. And in his spare time, he enjoys reading, watching college football, and rooting for/lamenting over the San Diego Padres.

Rev. Chuck Tedrick
Associate Pastor

Chuck Tedrick is commencing his fifth year as the Dean of Students at Westminster Seminary California. He also serves as an Associate Pastor at Christ United Reformed Church, Santee. Prior to accepting the position as Dean of Students, Rev. Tedrick was honored to serve as the pastor of Calvary United Reformed Church in Loveland, Colorado from 2010–2020. He is a WSC alumnus, having earned his Master of Divinity degree in 2010. While in seminary, Chuck worked for White Horse Inn (now Sola Media) and WSC in marketing and event management. Before coming to WSC he was involved in marketing and event management within the automotive industry for nearly twenty years.

Chuck is a native of Farmington Hills, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit). He and his wife, Michele, have been married for 22 years and love serving the seminary and church communities. Chuck enjoys scuba diving, hiking, fly fishing, and engaging in good conversations.

Rev. Dr. Michael Horton
Associate Pastor

Dr. Horton has taught systematic theology and apologetics at Westminster Seminary California since 1998 and is ordained in the United Reformed Churches.  In addition to his work at the seminary, he is the founder of Sola Media and its associated endeavors: the White Horse Inn radio show and podcast, Modern Reformation magazine, Core Christianity, and Theo Global.

Dr. Horton received an MA at WSC in 1990 and went on to earn a PhD from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford and the University of Coventry in 1996. He completed a research fellowship at Yale University Divinity School from 1996 to 1998. In 2016, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Grove City College.

A member of various societies, including the American Academy of Religion and the Evangelical Theological Society as well as a member of the Council on Biblical Competencies at Biola University, Dr. Horton is also the author or editor of forty books and contributor to various encyclopedias including the Oxford Handbook of Reformed Theology, the Oxford Handbook of Presbyterianism, and Brill’s Encyclopedia of Christianity.

Rev. Daniel Cortez
Associate Pastor

Daniel and his family have been members of Christ URC since 2016.

The Lord called him to gospel ministry in 2020 and was ordained to serve as an associate minister at Christ URC and a military chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserves. He holds an M. Div. from Westminster Seminary California, Escondido. As a bi-vocational minister, he also serves part-time as a hospice Registered Nurse around San Diego County.

He and his wife Maricel have a daughter, Sophia and live in Spring Valley. Although he has lived in the States for a while, he was raised in the Philippines as a teenager for many years before moving to San Diego in 2009. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, exploring the rest of sunny San Diego and trying new food.

Dan Palmer
Elder

Dan has been a member and elder of Christ URC since 2007. He and his wife Gail have two grown children, and live in Alpine.

David Hooper
Elder

David and his family have been members since May 2013. He was ordained as an elder in January 2017.

David is originally from Oklahoma and his wife Yoryana is from Tijuana. They have two children.

Dr. Ryan Glomsrud
Elder

Ryan has been a member of Christ URC since 2011, and an elder since 2013.

He holds an M.A. in historical theology from Westminster Seminary California, a D. Phil in theology at the University of Oxford, and completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Harvard University. He is an Associate Professor at Westminster Seminary California, where he teaches historical theology and church history.

He and his wife Elizabeth have three children, and live in Rancho Santa Fe. Ryan is a devoted fan of the Liverpool F.C..

Jonathan Taylor
Elder

Jonathan and his family have been members of Christ URC since it first organized in 2006. He was ordained as an elder in 2011. Previous to that, he served CURC as a deacon.

Jonathan and his wife have four children. They live in La Mesa.

James Villarino

James has been a member of Christ URC since 2012. He was ordained as deacon in 2014. He and his wife Jennifer live in San Diego.

Noah Collins
Elder, Chairman

Noah has been a member of Christ URC since 2011. He was ordained as an elder in 2018.


DEACONS

Chris Olow
Chairman of Deacons

Chris and his family have been members of Christ URC since May 2014.  He was ordained as a deacon January 2017.  

Chris and his wife, Trish, and children, Zoe and Evan, are native San Diegans.

Randy Shamoun
Deacon

Randy and his family have been part of Christ URC since it began as a church plant in 2003.  He was ordained as a deacon in 2006. 

He and his wife Maria, and children Justin, Anika and Christian live in San Diego.

Andrew Young
Deacon, Treasurer

Andrew has been a member of Christ URC since 2006. He was ordained as a deacon in 2008. He and his family live in San Diego.

Brett Montouri
Deacon

Brett Montouri became a member of Christ URC in February 2010. He moved to San Diego from New York in 1969 and has one daughter Ella, who now lives in Washington DC after attending Christ URC during her high school years and is a graduate of UCLA. Employed as an IT Project Manager at Sharp Healthcare, Brett enjoys watercolor painting, Padres baseball, and travelling for family visits, surfing and art inspiration.

Chad Palmer
Deacon, Clerk

Chad Palmer is a born and raised native to San Diego and lives in Santee with his wife Jessica and puppy Ripley. Chad became an official CURC member in 2013 and was ordained as a Deacon on April 30, 2023. When not at church, Chad serves as a lead designer at Solar Turbines, and enjoys creating custom fonts and hand lettering projects on the side.

Missionary Pastors

 

Rev. Andrea Ferrari
Missionary Pastor of church plant in Perugia, Italy

Rev. Ferrari was ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament in the URCNA on January 24, 2010, by the Consistory of Christ URC and installed with the specific calling as a missionary-pastor to establish a federation of Reformed churches modeled after the URCNA. He presently serves as pastor of a small congregation in Milan, Italy. Rev. Ferrari previously served as a pastor in the Assemblies of God to a congregation in Sicily, and subsequently as a pastor of a Reformed Baptist church in Milan, which recently made the transition to a Reformed ecclesiology. His entrance into the URCNA was by colloquium doctum examination administered by Classis Southwest. 

Rev. Ferrari possesses theological degrees from three institutions: a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Assemblies of God Bible Institute in Italy (1992), a Master of Philosophy from the University of Wales (2004), and another Masters degree (Dottore Magistrale) from the University of Milan (2007). He is the author of John Diodati’s Doctrine of Holy Scripture (Grand Rapids: Reformation Heritage Books, 2006), as well as numerous articles published in theological journals and magazines. 

Andrea and his wife Cristina were married in 1992 and have two sons, Simone (Simon) and Danielle (Daniel). They live in Bollate, Milan.

Rev. Mihai Corcea
Missionary Pastor of Biserica Evanghelica Reformata (Bucharest, Romania)

Rev. Corcea was ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament in the URCNA on July 24th, 2016 by the Consistory of Christ URC and installed with the specific calling as a missionary-pastor to establish a federation of Reformed churches modeled after the URCNA. He currently serves as pastor of a small church plant in Bucharest, Romania. 
 
Rev. Corcea previously studied at Westminster Seminary California where he earned his Master of Divinity (2016). A native of Eastern Orthodox Romania, Mihai became Reformed by reading Reformed literature and through conversations he had with Reformed people during a visit in the Netherlands. Then he made contact with Rev. Andrea Ferrari, the URCNA missionary of Milan, Italy. Under the guidance of Rev. Ferrari, Mihai started studying at Westminster Seminary in 2013 and consequently became a member of Christ URC.
 
Mihai and his wife Lidia were married in 2010 and live in Bucharest, Romania.
